Gasslitterhof is very centrally located and is an ideal starting point at any time of year for excursions to the various hiking areas of the Dolomites, Alpe di Siusi and Renon, as well as the towns of Klausen, Bolzano and Brixen.
As enthusiastic mountain hikers ourselves, we are happy to give you hiking suggestions and insider tips.
The natural offerings in our holiday region are as diverse as almost nowhere else in South Tyrol. The cycle path runs through the valley floor, ideal for extensive bike tours and walks. Barbian lies on the mid-mountain ridge of the Eisack Valley, sunny and perfect for long hikes along the Chestnut Trail, to castles, churches and monasteries.
You can hike here all year round. From Kollmann, for example, via the paved paths of the old Kaiserstrasse up to Renon; from Saubach to the best viewpoints high above the Eisack Valley; to Bad Dreikirchen with its three mysterious chapels; on Torggele trails to worthwhile mountain inns; or to the waterfall that plunges impressively down from porphyry rock. The Barbian High Alpine Pasture and the Rittner Horn (2,260 m) are also popular high-altitude destinations in winter.
